A party is nothing without music. But I’ll admit it. My taste in French music borders on antiquated, but I just love that gilded, moonlit, Midnight in Paris view of France, and that is encapsulated, for me, in the classics, with a bit of modern tossed in for good measure. But, the best playlists are a collaborative effort. So I thought the list can continue in the comments! Leave your favorite French or French-leaning songs, and we can start our own interactive playlist, so our iPods will be prepped and ready for Bastille Day parties. My beloved and very cool Parisian teenage cousin Giada helped me find some new stuff. Here are some of my absolute faves, my most beloved in bold:

I just found it on Spotify. I love it. Thank you.
Deshabille-moi by juliette greco is one of my all-time seductive gorgeous favs…and I love the modern world/jazz group, Pink Martini’s, song, Sympathique – very humorous 🙂 And how I feel every sunday morning! And I know it’s in English, but when I lived in LA, I came across and instantly adored the earthy, heartfelt Paris Can’t Have You by Shannon Curtis. Some additional french classics are Donnez-Moi Des Roses by Fernand Gignac, La Valse A Mille Temps by Jacques Grel, and La Marie Jaconde by Alian Barriere ( tout a grace de mon pere). Thanks for the list! I definitely brushed up my itunes set.
Can’t forget ‘Sympathique’ by Pink Martini! The chorus makes me laugh every time. And for something more lounge-y, ‘Le Monde’ by Thievery Corporation.
can’t miss… Francoise Hardy (Voila)
